EVANGELINE (EVANGELINE &
GABRIEL: How the Cajuns Came to Louisiana)

Based on: The true story of the
Acadian Exile by the British in the 17th century.
Synopsis: The adventure of two lovers separated on their
wedding day who seek each other the world over, and
finally reunite in French Louisiana as the territory is
ceded to Spain. “Evangeline” is the story of courage
under fire, devotion to ideals, and faith when all hope
is gone. The story encompasses historical events such as
the Acadian Exile from Grand Pre, Canada, and the
Revolutionary War, featuring certain dialogue based on
actual letters and diaries. Historical figures in the
film include General George Washington, Marquis de
Lafayette, British Captain John Winslow, Britain’s King
George, and France’s King Louis XV and King Louis XVI.
The poem “Evangeline” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow,
written in 1847, is a dramatic interpretation of the
events occurring during this famous event in history
that until now have not been told to the contemporary
world.

Synopsis: Battle of the sexes between a
serious journalism major and her nemesis, a tabloid editor
during a gumbo-cooking contest in Cajun Country. When the spices
for the cook-off are swapped with love potions made by the local
voodoo queen, sparks fly, and the resulting matches make for a
great recipe book.
